Usually, puzzle platformers feature a single protagonist, as the player guides him through environments filled with perils. In some cases, as with Ilomilo or ibb and obb, two are tethered to one another by the common goal of touching a thing and/or getting to the exit. The two unlucky space janitors in Shiftlings join in on that tradition, except they are literally tethered to each other.

Sharing one life support system across two space suits, aliens Purple Plop and Green Goop can move gas between each individual suit, ballooning one or the other up at will. With this ability, they bounce around, plug up holes, and generally avoid the various death traps around them. While the hose connecting them gives them their abilities, it also acts as a weak point in the system: if it is severed, they both suffocate and die.

That is just one of the ways that the two can be F.I.R.E.D. Perils of the job include being flattened, ignited, robo-murderized, electrocuted, or dismembered. Shiftlings is set to release the week of March 3 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
