Electronic Arts has released some new screens of the upcoming PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title, Burnout Paradise, along with a 48-second trailer … that only contains 19 seconds worth of game footage. But who cares, because it’s 19 seconds of what’s easily the sweetest looking Burnout game to date.
Featured in the trailer is the “Steel Wheels” promo car, a heavily modified GT concept car “designed specifically for the celebrity with style.” The car features armor-plating and a supercharged 6735cc V8 (tomato juice?), which EA is claiming will make it the perfect car for any celebrity (like Ron Workman, for instance) to make a grand entrance at any premiere. EA also let us know that the car goes from 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds, and has a top speed of 195 miles per hour. Apparently that’s fast, and it should give you “plenty of firepower to leave the paparazzi crushed in your wake.”
Which brings me to my problem — where the hell is all of the crushing? We’ve seen plenty of gorgeous screenshots of Burnout Paradise‘s vehicles and open-world, but can we see some burning leather, flying tires, and crushed steel? Because that’s what this is really all about, isn’t it?
