The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt scoops top award
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been crowned Game of the Year at this year’s GDC Awards.
The RPG also received recognition with a Best Technology Award.
It wasn’t the biggest winner of the ceremony, however; Sam Barlow’s Her Story toke home three awards – Best Handheld/Mobile, Best Narrative, and Innovation Award.
Ori and the Blind Forest was awarded Best Visual Art and Best Debut for developer Moon Studios. Other winners include Rocket League (Best Design), and Crypt of the NecroDancer (Best Audio). Bethesda’s Todd Howard was recognised with a Lifetime Achievement award, and Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson honoured with a Pioneer Award.
Despite nominations in four categories, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain did not pick up any awards on the night. Poor Snake. š
