A gaming franchise isn’t a gaming franchise these days unless it has its own theme park ride. Nintendo, Ubisoft… they’re all at it. And now, BioWare is too.

The developer has announced that a new “3D adventure” Mass Effect ride will open next year at California’s Great American theme park.

“The interactive ride, curated by a live performer, will take guests on a journey to a distant planet, where they will face off against larger-than-life foes and fight to save the day,” states BioWare. “Using cutting-edge 3D technology and 4D effects, the ride throws passengers right into the action, creating a fantastical adventure that they won’t soon forget.”

“Teaming with a world-wide gaming leader like EA will enable us to build an incredible user experience for Great America guests,” said California’s Great America Vice President and General Manager Raul Rehnborg. “This combination of technology and creative video game content is sure to usher in a new wave of entertainment innovation at amusement parks.”

If you could choose any game or franchise to turn into a theme park ride, what would you choose and why?
