‘Not leaving Metal Gear behind’

A Konami representative has rubbished reports that the developer/publisher has ceased making video games for consoles.

Although the company has not officially responded to the speculation, a Konami rep responded to a reddit User (via Nintendo Life), stating that it was “definitely not” turning its back on console game production.

“I can promise you that we’re definitely not leaving Metal Gear behind or anything like that,” wrote the rep in an email.

“I know some blogs were claiming that online this morning, but I’m not really sure where they’d be getting that from.”

“We’re still definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest.”

“I know there’s a lot of folks out there that really want us to say it’s otherwise, for some reason, but it’s just not true. Those teams are definitely still working on designing and programming great games.”

Like all of the Konami rumors to date, this must be taken with a pinch of salt as there’s no corroboration either way, but for PES, Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear fans everywhere, let’s hope it’s true.
