Why, Nintendo?

Pokémon Shuffle is a new puzzle game coming to the 3DS, but the news that Nintendo has just announced is troubling. It will be free to pickup, but it will have an energy mechanic built in — in other words, it will stop you from playing unless you wait for your energy to refill, or pay real money using IAP (in-app-purchases, or microtransactions) to keep playing.

Nintendo says this allows “different styles of players to enjoy the game.” Ew. It will arrive in February 2015.
