And so begins Phase Two of Devolver’s plan for complete global domination
Starting today at 2PM Pacific, world-renowned hustler of fine digital culture Devolver Digital will kick off a weekly series of live screenings of videogame-related movies on Twitch.
According to rep Stephanie “Silver Screen” Tinsley Schopp, “the series will begin with a screening of the Devolver-produced documentary Stream Dream. This film chronicles the rising influence of gaming video content creators using Twitch and other video platforms to reach their worldwide audiences. Devolver will preface Stream Dream with a premiere of its new Winter Releases Trailer which features upcoming movie releases from the indie publishing and distribution house.”
What? Don’t tell me you were unaware that Devolver produced and published independent films as well as hand-crafted games. Seriously, how else is the oft-misunderstood but unquestionably lovable and patriotic CFO Fork Parker going to afford to recondition Elvis’ private jet the Lisa Marie with a gold-plated hot tub, state-of-the-art digital entertainment system, and a Five Nights at Freddy’s-themed animatronic-staffed wet bar? This stuff doesn’t come cheap!
The 2015 screening schedule is as follows:
- January 9: Stream Dream and Winter Releases Trailer
- January 16: Pixel Poetry – A games-as-art documentary
- January 30: Angry Video Game Nerd – The movie adaptation of the popular comic web series
- February 6: Gaming in Color – LGBTQ gamer documentary
- February 13: Super Game Jam: The Movie – Game development becomes entertainment
- February 20: TBA
It should go without saying, but these screenings seem like a perfect opportunity for the Destructoid Community to get together for a little R&R and virtual popcorn throwing.
Hope to see you lovely people in the chat channel!
