Valve has confirmed with Shacknews that one of the best values in gaming, Half-Life 2: The Orange Box, will be shipping on October 9, 2007. For those who’ve been too busy coddling their plush Master Chief toys to care, The Orange Box is a behemoth of a product, a dream collection that sounds like a coked up fanboy’s imagination gone wild.
Packed in will be the original Half-Life 2, last year’s Half-Life: Episode One, as well as the the brand new chapter, Half-Life: Episode Two. As if that wasn’t enough, Valve will be throwing in the all-new Team Fortress 2 and the cooler-than-heck DigiPen student project turned all fancy, Portal. The PC version of the suite will be distributed over Valve’s Steam service, but retail hags and console owners (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, only) can pick up their copies in stores for $49.99 and $59.99, respectively.
October can’t come soon enough, and I certainly hope Valve can deliver the product on time. I’m going to need something to do while everybody I know is too busy playing Halo 3 to shower, eat, or talk to me.
