A very small portion of the internet recently bubbled at the thought of Capcom’s demented and abstract piece of videogame surrealism, Killer 7, being remade for the Nintendo Wii. A Wii version of Suda 51’s schizophrenic poster paint nightmare would have made for perhaps a more useful move than Capcom’s decision to resurrect Resident Evil 4, but interested fans were left disappointed this afternoon when it all turned out to be in err.

The misunderstanding occurred when Capcom’s official Web site showed a Wii symbol next to a listing for Killer 7 which, naturally, got people talking. This was, however, a mere mistake, the result of icon size testing, which Capcom has apologized for. They have confirmed that indeed no new release of the Grasshopper Manufacture collaboration will be visiting the Wii in the near future, although didn’t completely shoot down the idea.

Speaking as one of Killer 7‘s biggest fans, I’m a little disappointed that the chances of a Wii version of the title remain slim to none. While for most people, and rightly so, news that the Wii won’t see another last-gen port is a good thing, I make love to anything even vaguely related to the pop art insanity that is Killer 7.

It’s a shame nobody else did, which is why this was always going to be a stretch of an idea.
