We here at Destructoid love our robots. In fact, you know my boss? He’s a freakin’ robot! How cool is that?
So it’s with great pleasure that I bring you word that Custom Robo Arena is coming to the Nintendo DS on March 19th. While the original Custom Robo that hit the GameCube only has a 65% average review rating over at MetaCritic, the 14 users who voted gave it a respectable 8.5. So at least 14 people will pick up a copy when it his shelves, but why should you?
How about full 2-player support via Nintendo Wi-Fi? Well, that’s enough to grab my attention, and the GameCube game made me break out in hives. Read on for some Nintendo PR jibber jabber and let the Friend Code trading begin.
Fighting Robots Find a Home on Nintendo DS
Imagine a future where disputes are solved in a calm and rational manner. Opposing sides simply outfit their favorite robots in suits of armor, arm them with weapons and let them try to beat the snot out of each other. This is the future of Custom Robo(TM) Arena, launching exclusively for Nintendo DS(TM) on March 19.
In this future, all disputes are settled by robot warriors on holographic battlefields. Just like the robot-battle shows that used to populate late-night cable TV, Custom Robo Arena lets players customize their robots with a nearly endless combination of torsos, legs and weapons. As players progress through the game, they power up their robos and explore a vast futuristic city.
Players can even battle each other in two-person multiplayer matches. This can be done wirelessly in the same room or around the world via Nintendo(R) Wi-Fi Connection, Nintendo’s wireless gaming service. With so many different possible combinations of robos and accessories, the replay
possibilities are almost infinite.Custom Robo Arena, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older, launches everywhere March 19. For more information about the game, please visit www.CustomRoboArena.com
