One of the most cinematic games is finally reaching cinemas through a partnership between Columbia Pictures and Kojima Productions. At the Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary event in Japan, series creator Hideo Kojima was joined by Hollywood producer Avi Arad, who has worked on The Amazing Spider-Man and many other recent Marvel films. Now, he’ll take his hand at producing a Metal Gear Solid film.

“For many years I fought to bring comics to theaters — and video games are the comics of today,” Arad said. “We will take our time and tell the story with all the nuances, ideology, cautionary tales needed.”

Hideo mentioned Christopher Nolan, Hugh Jackman, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck among people he would like to cast for the film. For now though, it all seems like a pipe dream with no director or screenwriter attached. The ball is rolling though. Hopefully it’s going in the right direction.

My opinion: Get Anthony Burch.
