Looks like Wiitards are screwed. Despite the ridiculous determination of lawyers to try to find a way to blame Nintendo for people’s inability to firmly hold a controller and move around simultaneously, the argument seems to be failing. 1Up featured Nintendo’s offical press statement in response to the allegations yesterday, which reads as follows:
“We believe the lawsuit to be completely without merit. Nintendo has a long tradition of delivering high-quality products and excellent customer service, and we take all reports from our customers seriously.”
“At the time we became aware of the lawsuit, we had already taken appropriate steps to reinforce with consumers the proper use of the Wii Remote and had made stronger replacement wrist straps available. This suit has had no effect on those efforts.”
Clearly Nintendo has been around long enough to know how to cover their proverbial asses. Dumbasses of the world may have to refocus their energy on a slightly more vulnerable target. On the other hand, the tongue in cheek instruction manuals that Nintendo has distributed in Japan make me think that they find the Wiitards are very funny indeed. I have no doubt they’re laughing all the way to the bank. Ho ho! Stupid Americans!
