Watch live video from Capcom-Unity on Justin.tv
Yesterday Capcom held a live stream of their upcoming 3DS title Resident Evil: Revelations, highlighting the joy and pain of the game’s co-op Raid mode. The stream is currently off-line, but it has risen from it’s grave in this post with nearly an hour of archived footage for you to enjoy.
It’s interesting to see the tight corridors and small groups of durable, slow moving enemies most commonly associated with the classic Resident Evil games combined with the action-focused co-op combat made popular by more contemporary zombie games like Resident Evil 5 and Left 4 Dead. It looks pretty fun, but I’m glad that Capcom didn’t make the whole game revolve around Raid mode, like they did with Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. I have a feeling that having both a solid, story based campaign and a replayable, addictive online mode will help Revelations outsell it’s more arcade-style predecessor.
It doesn’t hurt that the game looks incredible, (just check out some of the close-ups on the character models at the 11:20 mark) but I’ll understand if you don’t want to sit through the whole stream. If not, I suggest you just jump around to 15:00, 32:00, and 38:00. That’s where you’ll see a lot of the game’s new monsters, like the disgusting, gaping mouthed blobs, the weirdly cute jumping spiked balls, and some really big, dark zombie dogs.
I can’t wait for this game to come out. Just a few more months to go!
