PS3 price cut? The UK says “Si”

Got you all worked up with that headline, didn’t I? I bet a few of you are even sporting wood, and furiously hunting for a bottle of hand lotion, aren’t you? Well, keep it in your pants, freak, it’s not quite what it seems.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, UK e-tailer Aria has dropped the price on the 60GB version of the PlayStation 3 (by a whopping 25GBP aka $49.06USD) only three days after its official launch. Their reasoning? Here’s a quote;

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz founder and managing director Aria Taheri explained, “We’re running a promotion to create market awareness. This offer will only run for a limited period, and we have a limited quantity of machines available at this price.”

Recently, we’ve received a lot of conflicting reports on how well Sony’s flagship product has been faring across the pond; some claiming it’s failing utterly, some claiming it’s the new iPod and a few claiming every console released so far has been purchased by Emma Bunton and quickly devoured. Until Prince William calls us back, the only thing we can be sure of is that the PS3 has been released on that side of the Atlantic and that I will never stop using that Churchill picture.
