The meat of this story is that Hudson Entertainment has confirmed that another TurboGrafx title will be hitting the Wii’s Virtual Console. On their official message boards they tease that “it’s one of the most requested games that fans want.” They even go as far as to throw in a “Oooohh! Tasty!”
I first caught this news on my cell phone, via 1up. The first thing I saw after the headline (“More TurboGrafx for Virtual Console on Monday“) was Splatterhouse, written in bold letters. So naturally, I had to interrupt my wife (who was talking about something important like a mortgage or world peace) and yell, “Holy s–t, Splatterhouse on the Virtual Console!”
Turns out writer Patrick Klepek was just a gigantic jerk who wanted to fool me into thinking one of the sweetest TurboGrafx games of all time was coming to the Virtual Console. We’re in a fight, Patrick. Don’t toy with my emotions like that, it’s totally unprofessional.
In any case, it seems that R-Type is a more likely candidates (the ESRB site has given it a rating of E for the Nintendo Wii). They’ll do, but I’d take a hockey mask and a wooden plank over aliens with twelves eyes any day.
