When I walked into my E3 meeting with Telltale yesterday I wanted nothing more than to talk about their upcoming game based on the revolutionary King’s Quest series. When I first heard Telltale was reviving the classic adventure series I hold so near and dear to my heart, I kind of lost my mind.

Sadly, Telltale is not talking. The game is not coming out until 2012 and they are keeping everything about the game super secret … for now. BUT I DID GET A COUPLE OF THINGS OUT OF THEM! Which made me very happy.

When asked if the new game would star a new family, or continue the adventures so wonderfully told in the previous seven games (I like to pretend Mask of Eternity doesn’t exist), Telltale just smiled, but did say “they wouldn’t want to just throw away such a great established story, right?” To my ears, THAT IS A CONFIRMATION THAT GRAHAM AND FAMILY WILL BE BACK IN DAVENTRY!

But my favorite piece of information from the meeting was that Roberta Williams herself (the original creator of King’s Quest … and kind of my hero) was approached by Telltale to work on the game (OMG!). Happy in retirement, she respectfully declined, but she did offer some advice and guidance on the game.

Roberta Williams providing input on this new, glorious King’s Quest. Best news ever. <passes out>
