Edge interviewed Tomasz Gop, senior producer at CD Projekt, about The Witcher 2 (which looks nice). Gop had some interesting things to say, like how a mix of games such as Heavy Rain, Demon’s Souls and Batman: Arkham Asylum inspired the team over the past years, and how people will find elements of Demon’s Souls in the game.

He also talked a tiny bit about how outsourcing a console remake of the original The Witcher didn’t end up being the best idea, and how they learned it’s best to focus on one game at a time to give it the polish it deserves. Gop says: “If we were ever to do it again, like a console version for Witcher 2 for example, we’d definitely want to do it in-house.”

Apparently the writers for The Witcher are mostly the same team that is working on its sequel, with the script being written simultaneously in Polish and English. Also — something that’s always good to hear — Gop stresses that The Witcher 2 is an adult game and that while “younger players” might not understand the consequences of their in-game actions, adults should have fun with the game’s mature approach to branching interactive storytelling.

Check out the entire interview if you’re a fan, as it’s a good enough read.
