Starbreeze, developer of such fine games as Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, The Darkness and the recently released Syndicate, has announced that their next title, Cold Mercury, will attempt to tackle a free-to-play business model.

Speaking with IndustryGamers, Starbreeze CEO Mikael Nermark made it clear that this wasn’t a sign that Starbreeze would no longer be pursuing AAA projects, commenting that they are currently in discussions with several publishers for the financing of future retail products. In addition to work on Cold Mercury, Starbreeze is also working to secure a distribution deal for P13, a title they are developing with Swedish film director Josef Fares.
