This might come as quite a shock for you, but the PlayStation 3 sold out over the weekend in Japan. According to gaming mag publisher Enterbrain, the PS3 sold 88,400 units over the hectic couple of days. What’s even more non-shocking is the fact that Ridge Racer and a Gundam game were the top titles sold.

Enterbrain also said that Namco Bandai is so far the big launch winner as far as publishers are concerned. Two of the company’s titles, Ridge Racer 7 and Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight, were the top two PS3 titles, selling around 30,000 copies each.

I’m going to go ahead and use my crystal ball skills and inform you that the PS3 will sell out at launch here in the States as well. I know, it’s a bit of a stretch, but just remember where you heard the U.S. news first: Here, baby!
