It’s Thursday! Have some chiptunes for no reason other than I love you!

Chiptune music house Ubiktune unleashed two fresh albums this past week. First up is the Valentine’s Day-dedicated 7bit date: robot love by beek. More than a declaration of mechanical passion, it is a love letter to the sounds of old gaming computers like the Amiga and Commodore 64. You can cop the album for however much you wish to pay at the Bandcamp link below.

Second up is the Frank Zappa-ish The Wave by subPixel. This is a “double-sided” release of 12 tracks — the first “side” is six songs performed with live instruments, while the other side is the same six songs arranged using the NES’ VRC6 chip. Eventually, an iOS app will be released, allowing listeners to mix each song on the fly, going from live to chip and back. This album can be purchased for $3, or for a Lincoln, you can order a friggin’ physical cassette, should you still have the means to play one of those relics!

As always, hit the jump for some music samples, especially of The Wave‘s dual nature.
