How to survive the Root invasion
Like most Souls-like games,Ā Remnant 2 can be pretty intimidating when you first start. Add in the fact that almost everything is random, and it can be pretty tricky to ensure you’re on the right path. I’ve put in almost forty hours in the Action RPG across three different characters and put together some handy information to help you have a better start. Here are 7 beginner tips forĀ Remnant 2.
Try out new archetypes if you’re having a rough start
There are five possible starter archetypes in Remnant 2. Even though your build for each will change over the course of the game, your start will rely heavily on your starting weapons and perks. I made the mistake of starting as a Hunter which was not very solo friendly. Hunters excel at keeping enemies at long range and blasting them with high-damage shots. It’s a great starting archetype in a group setting but can be quite challenging alone. If you find yourself constantly low on health, Medic has a nice heal. The Handler has a dog companion that can pull aggro off of you as well as review you when you are downed. Don’t be afraid to start over with a new character and a different archetype because you can skip the prologue.
Don’t be afraid to reroll your starter world
If you are having a rough time, this is one of the best Remnant 2 tips you can take advantage of. A lot of things in Remnant 2 are random, including the first world that is available to you. Some can definitely be tougher than others. After completing your first world you will soon unlock the ability to venture into the other worlds, but before that, you can reroll to get a new starter world. I personally found N’Erud to be a fun world and was not too difficult.
Spend your trait points
This can seem like a no-brainer, but trust me, it’s easy to overlook. At a glance, it may seem like traits don’t do much as they only increase stats by a few points, but it really makes a difference. It can also be easy to forget you have traits because you can get them pretty frequently especially early on. I once had six trait points unused because I found several Tome’s and leveled up several times in quick succession before realizing I had so many saved up. If you’re not sure what to put points in, the core traits Vigor, Endurance, and Expertise are a safe choice.
Check over your obtained equipment every few worlds
If you’re zooming through worlds, mowing down bosses, and settling into a hasty grind, it can be easy to overlook an upgrade. Furthermore, your build will most likely change several times as you find better weapons and rings. There were a couple of times I’d pass on equipping a ring or relic because it didn’t really pertain to my build. But a few hours later my build would change and when looking through my equipment, the gear I opted not to use would now be perfect for my build.
Stock up at Ward 13
Once you get into the grind it can be easy to forget that Ward 13 exists. Don’t forget to check in at the hub from time to time to see what new mods and gear you can craft or upgrade. Consumables can also make or break a run inĀ Remnant 2, so make sure you’re staying topped up. Most consumables can be purchased from the vendor in Ward 13, and can make things a lot easier. Trust me, this is one of the more valuableĀ Remnant 2 tips as consumables alone can be a game-changer.
Do a few Adventure Mode runs
Remnant 2 has a pretty cool feature that allows you to have a separate Campaign and Adventure run. In Adventure Mode, you can return to previously completed biomes without disrupting your Campaign Mode progression. You can also reroll your Adventure Mode run at any time, or return back to your Campaign run. You unlock Adventure Mode after completing your first world. Afterward, simply visit the Ward 13 World Stone to switch between the two.
Grab a friend or dip your toes in Quick Match
This may be one of the most understated tips for Remnant 2. You can also visit the Ward 13 World Stone to jump into some multiplayer. Here you can join up with a friend or even jump into Quick Match which throws you into a game with a random person based on the parameters you set. Remnant 2 is definitely easierāand often more funāwhen you’re not alone. If a biome or boss is giving you a particularly tough time you can probably overcome the hurdle by simply teaming up.
