The DS is a wonderful little piece of kit but, like the Wii, it has seen its fair share of crap over the years as unscrupulous developers attempt to cash-in on its success. With the 3DS on the horizon and looking amazing, similar fears of rushed ports and sloppy cash grabs have surfaced. Shigeru Miyamoto is aware of this and says Nintendo is relying on the integrity of developers.

“I think we just have to rely on the integrity of the developers and the products that they’re making,” says Miyamoto, ever the idealist. “I think that a lot of companies will be looking at what properties they have so that they may be able to take advantage of that, and even we’re looking at that as well, in terms of games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D or Star Fox 64.

To be fair, if the 3DS is relying on the integrity of developers and publishers, the 3DS is already dead.

So far, it looks like a pretty stellar launch line up is in place for the 3DS, so hopefully there will be a fantastic set of games for the system. I really hope it doesn’t become a system primarily built around crap like LOL Babiez LOL and ROFL Stop Smoking plzthnx and whatever other crap Ubisoft wants to pollute the world with. Nintendo’s systems deserve more than what publishers are giving them.
