MTG Bloomburrow release date, set information, and where to buy

A massive adventure for some tiny characters.

Of all the planes in the multiverse you can explore, Magic: The Gathering Bloomburrow might just be the cutest, though it’s not without its small horrors.

This MTG set takes players to the plane of Bloomburrow, occupied by anthropomorphic animals. While that might not sound like anything new to this universe, it really is. Instead of these animals being the same size and shape as humans, they’re just as small as their Earth counterparts but wear clothes and fineries. All this won’t save them from the advancing threat, though, which is what this new set of cards focuses on.

The release date for the Magic: The Gathering Bloomburrow set is August 2, 2024. This is when all the official products will become widely available, though the prerelease date is earlier: July 26, 2024. From this date, fans can buy Prerelease Packs and take part in events at their local game stores in the lead-up to the full release the following week.

Cards from the Magic: The Gathering Bloomburrow set will be revealed as we inch closer to its release date. I’ve included all the confirmed cards so far below, so you can get some idea of what this set brings to the table.

  • Lumra, Bellow of the Woods: Vigilance, Reach. This card’s power and toughness are equal to the number of Lnds you control. When Lumra Enters, mill four cards and then return every Land card from the graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
  • Mabel: Heir to Cragflame: A 3/3 Legendary Creature that gives other mice you control +1/+1. When this card Enters, you create Cragflame, a legendary colorless Equipment Artifact Token with “Equipped creature has +1/+1 and has Trample, Vigilance, and Haste”. Equip costs 2.
  • Bria, Riptide Rogue: A 3/3 Legendary Creature with Prowess that gives Prowess to all other creatures you control. If those creatures already have Prowess, this is an additional case that triggers separately. Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, a target creature you control cannot be blocked this turn.
  • Byrke, Long ears of theLaw: A 4/4 Legendary Creature with Vigilance. When this card Enters, put a +1/+1 counter on up to two target creatures. Whenever a creature you control with a +1/+1 counter on it attacks, double the 1/+1 counters on it.

  • Traditional Foil (Play and Collector Boosters)
  • Borderless Anime (Collector Boosters)
  • Showcase Borderless (Play and Collector Boosters)

What is the story in Magic: The Gathering Bloomburrow?

Magic: The Gathering Bloomburrow is the first set in the Dragonstrom Arc. The Great Night Owl and various Calamity Beasts threaten everything in the plane. A ragtag group of adventurers from across Bloomburrow must band together to stop this threat and save their plane from complete corruption and destruction.

I’m really eager to know what happens to Planeswalkers from other planes when they come to Bloomburrow. Whether they remain their size from other planes or shrink down and become an animal, I need to know how that works.

Where to buy Magic: The Gathering Bloomburrow

The first place you should look to purchase Magic: The Gathering Bloomburrow is your local game store. These local businesses are the backbone of the game and will close down if they don’t get our business, so it’s worth giving them your money. With that said, it’s not always possible to get to these stores, so I’ve listed a few online alternatives below you can use.

  • Amazon (US & UK): Amazon has a decent selection of Bloomburrow products on offer, but they’re not the cheapest. It’s a good option if you want to secure your products ahead of time so they’ll arrive on time.
  • Chaos Cards (US & UK): Chaos Cards is a retailer I’ve used before, and they’re very reliable. They have a points system that will reward you for everything you purchase, so it’s a good bet if you plan on buying a lot of MTG products from there.
  • Magic Madhouse (US & UK): Magic Madhouse is my go-to for MTG cards. They’re reasonably priced and deliver on time. I always check in here first before going to another retailer because I’ve had the best experiences here.
  • Axion Now (UK): Axion Now is a game store in the UK that’s also very well known for being a great online retailer. I’ve used this store before and had a great experience that I can’t fault. The only issue is that once products are sold out, they’re gone. They don’t get too much in either.
  • GAME (UK): GAME is another UK retailer that’s a little bit expensive but also pretty reliable. The only downside is the increased price and the fact that it uses Royal Mail, which is a pretty abysmal mail service where I live. If it’s got a product you want and can’t get elsewhere, though, such as the Gift Bundles, then get that order in.
