Monopoly GO Piggy Bank rewards and price explained

A large dice boost, but at what cost?

Monopoly GO offers dozens of ways to get dice, from recurring events and tournaments to various premium shop items and free dice links. One of many options you can use is the Piggy Bank, a premium feature that gives you hundreds, potentially thousands, of dice for a cost.

How does the Piggy Bank work in Monopoly GO?

Monopoly GO’s Piggy Bank is a limited-time special offer that allows you to get dice in exchange for real money. Once it starts, it’s usually available for around six to seven days, giving you nearly a whole week to collect dice and decide if you want to open the bank as a one-time boost. You fill the piggy bank by rolling doubles as you travel around your Monopoly board.

However, there are a few peculiar features of this piggy bank. The main caveat is that it costs money, giving you no way to obtain these dice for free. Another is that you can buy the bank at any point if you need some quick dice despite it having a maximum carrying capacity. The last, and perhaps most interesting part, is that different players have varying piggy bank sizes. In other words, while yours may hold 500 dice and cost $10 to open, your friend may have one that holds 1,500 dice but costs $30.

Although the piggy bank lasts a limited time before going away, that doesn’t mean it’ll never return. Scopely introduced the piggy bank for the first time in September 2023, and it reappears every two to three months.

Whether or not the piggy bank is worth opening is almost entirely up to personal preference. Comparing it to other items in Monopoly GO’s shops, it is a better deal than standard dice purchases that are always available and an overall improvement over some of the limited-time deals you’ll find on your sidebar. However, you also have to spend dice to get maximum benefit, which could cause you to break even or even lose dice if you’re solely aiming to fill your bank. In other words, getting it has pros and cons, and it’s worth weighing your options before deciding.
