How to lock on to enemies in Dragon’s Dogma 2

For some, this can make or break combat

Fighting enemies in Dragon’s Dogma 2 without locking on to them can be a great way to attack without restrictions. However, if you find that it’s difficult to aim your attacks or that some assistance would help your progression, knowing how to lock on to enemies and auto-aim can help.

Can you lock on to enemies in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, the only way to lock on to enemies while fighting in combat is to use vocation skills like Sorcerer and Mage spells or attacks from classes like Magick Archers. When you cast a spell, a circle will appear on an enemy, locking you onto them as you perform your incantation. If you have a melee character, you won’t lock on to monsters, requiring you to time and aim your attacks.

To activate the Sorcerer and Mage spell circle, you’ll start your incantation and aim your camera toward your enemy. If it’s a small monster, the circle covers its entire body, indicating you’re attacking it. For larger enemies like Cyclops and Ogres, you can target its legs, head, and other parts to focus on its weak points. However, since switching targets is challenging, you’ll still have to rely on character positioning to get the exact angle you need.

Outside of this, several other vocations, particularly melee ones, have no lock-on abilities. Although some skills for various vocations have similar mechanics, you’ll mostly rely on your aim and timing when attacking and blocking. This also doesn’t apply to Pawns and their vocations, as they automatically fight for you regardless and require little to no intervention on your part.
