Helldivers 2 Scout Strider location, find those Automatons
To find a Scout Strider in Helldivers 2, you have to fight the Automatons in the western sector of the galaxy. It doesn’t matter which planet you visit. As long as you are taking on Automatons, you are in the right area to find a Scout Strider.
What’s the Scout Strider difficulty requirement?
Fighting Automatons is only one piece of the puzzle, you must have your difficulty set at Medium (3) or higher to encounter a Scout Strider. These are the enemies that look like AT-RT Walkers from the Star Wars franchise. They are manned by a single operator on the back of their tough exterior.Â
How to Kill a Scout Strider in Helldivers 2
There are many ways to kill a Scout Strider in Helldivers 2. The easiest way is to deal damage to the back since it’s the exposed part. It may be difficult to reach its backside once it is gunning at you, but there are ways around it.
For example, a well-thrown grenade to the back will most likely take it down. The AoE from the explosion can do enough damage to kill the operator, thus making the Scout Strider collapse.
Should you ever find yourself surrounded by a bunch of different Automatons with Scout Striders in the mix, almost any explosive air strike Stratagems should make easy work of them. Just be careful so you don’t catch yourself in your own destruction.
However, if this is all too hard to do, using the Arc Thrower is the easiest way to get rid of Scout Striders. The chain lightning splash damage from the weapon hits the operator on the back and can kill the thing in one or two shots. Do this 20 times, successfully extract from your mission, and you now have your challenge complete. Those Medals are definitely worth it.
