Cave Story WiiWare gets fixed to high heaven

Recommended Videos

Nintendo and Nicalis have just released a patch for Cave Story WiiWare. I love the game (gave it a 9.5/10), but it did have a few bugs. From what I’ve played of this patch so far, the bugs have been fixed. The music loops perfectly, the remixed music sounds fuller and more drum-driven.

There are a lot of other nice additions as well. The game now has full Gamecube controller support, the map screen overlays on the play screen and looks much prettier, and the extra modes now need to be unlocked.

The fact that the spoiler-packed extra modes are unlockable from the start, along with the slightly off soundtrack, were two of the few minor issues I had with the original build of Cave Story WiiWare. Now that they’re fixed, is it time for a new score? Perfect 10 perhaps? I’ll have to play through the whole game post-patch to find out.
