There was a time, long before the shroud of cannabis smoke soaked the air out of my room like a cartoon sponge, a time of soul crushing, eye bleeding, crotch exploding blandness, in which the Virtual Boy seemed reasonable. Adolescence was a time of monumental boredom, which I learned quickly would be perpetual unless something was done. This is where video games came in.
8 Bit Nintendo is where my journey began. I started with arguably the best game ever, "Super Mario Bros." I knew even at the tender age of 6 that this was something I couldn't ignore, that video games would become an obsession, a part of my daily routine. NES had too many good games to list here and so did the systems I would go on to pwn next including Genesis, SNES, Gameboy, PS1, N64, Dreamcast, PS2 and Xbox.
But it wasn't always consoles, no sir, I have been an avid PC gamer for the past 12 years as well and oh, what times we had.
I have watched the industry grow from a kind of niche market into an unstoppable super turbo hyper beast poised to become the top form of entertainment the world over. And that just gives me a shit eating grin from ear to ear.
Also, HA HA! Comic books.
