Katamari Damacy might be a fun , colorful game to some , but it`s actually holding some dark themes behind the fun rolling of the katamari and The King.
First up is the theme of child abuse. As seen in......well , all of the Katamari Damacy games are the memorable failure sequences. Whenever you fail , the King will punish you for not fulfilling your duties.
And DAMN. Some of his punishments are brutal. Most notably the lazers , being the most memorable yet most unforgiving of all the game over screens in the Katamari series.
Next is the theme of murder. It`s barely noticed in ANY of the Katamari games until you watch Ashley Davis` Katamari episode of Once Upon A Pixel.
Think about it. The poor innocents having a normal day , then , death , in the least expecting way possible , rears its ugly head : rolled up into a sticky ball. Rolled around over and over in a dizzying fashion , gasping for air , crushed underneath an ever growing ball of random junk.
It`s a dark game. And it is in the least suspecting way ever.
