I remember back when I was about the age of 10 when EA came into my sights, and started releasing terrific games (SSX series, Need For Speed Underground), and not finnicky games like the current EA. Sure, EA has been doing pretty well, but I would never compare them to how they were back in 2001-2004 when some of their big releases came into play. They re-defined genres with the open-world yet slightly linear SSX 3, or the street racing legend Need For Speed Underground, and it's successor, NFSU 2. I can't help but feel that EA has hurt these franchises that have been so endeared to me. I really disliked Need For Speed Pro Street, and it's upcoming sequel Need for speed Undercover doesn't look very promising as well. Also, I think SSX is near death, or at least in critical condition after the releases of SSX: On Tour and SSX: Blur. On tour was basically a copy of SSX 3 except with a dumb layout and the all-to-gimmicky addition of skiing. And don't get me started on Blur. It had plenty of great concepts (the music-based riding system, for one), but they were all bogged down by awful controls and they butchered the characters (including my main man Griff, who now looks like VZ from Burger King. +10 XP for knowing who VZ actually is.) and gave British snowboarding star Moby Jones a new haircut and a stupid low voice. Does anyone else remember enjoying these great games?
(PS) With that earlier post on that metacritic review of Portal: Still Alive, that WASN'T ME! Thanks.
