Asteroids...
For me, this is where it all began, circa 1983; going to my cousin's house with my brother and staying up half the night playing this game,
Space Invaders,
Pitfall!,
Megamania, the terrible 2600 port of
Pac-Man, etc., etc.
I've always loved the classic games. If, on any given weekend sometime around 1992, you went into the old Starcade by the Dome theater in Pleasant Hill, California, you'd see all the other kids crowding around
Mortal Kombat or the latest in the long series of
Street Fighter II updates, and then there'd be me away in the back, content that I had the
Mario Bros. cabinet all to myself. But I don't want to bore you with *too* much ancient history.
As my good friend Artie said, "I enjoy many other things, but that's not important here. We're here for the love of video games, dammit!" So, that said, if you really want to know more about me, drop me a line or add me on
Myspace.

Donkey Kong - Arcade: What started as a Monday tradition has become a game that I live and breathe. This game. Is. AWESOME. Every Monday Artie and I meet up, get a cheese steak sandwich, head over to
Phoenix Games in Concord and play this classic. Now, I've become a regular at Phoenix; if someone there doesn't know me by name, they know me as "the Donkey Kong man." I'm currently the champion at Phoenix Games, with a high score of 300,800 (unofficially the 26th highest score in the world and 10,500 points above Steve Sanders, author of
Video Master's Guide to Donkey Kong), and I'm looking into purchasing my own cabinet. Watch out, Hank Chien. I've come to chew bubblegum and take your record. And I'm all out of bubblegum.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - Gamecube: Yeah, I know, I'm more than a few years behind. Love this series, though. Very much anticipating the release of
Other M.

New Rally-X - Arcade: It's funny that people back in 1980 seriously thought that this game's predecessor would go on to be the top arcade money maker of that year, over games like
Battlezone, Defender and
Pac-Man. Still, this game is addicting and a lot of fun!
So yeah, I'm new to the Destructoid community... I'll be adding/updating my blog as time allows. After all, it cuts into valuable game time. :)
