Well this is my first blog, and I thought making a Top 10 game list would be the best way to start out here in the C-Blogs. Also If you haven't read my intro in the forums check it out here,
http://www.destructoid.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9536 I'll number the games 10 through 1 and give a description on why I think it deserves to be on my top 10 list. So let's get started with:
#10-
Sonic 1,2,3, & Sonic & Knuckles
This was the first game I`d ever played and able to beat. The soundtrack was catchy, the levels were fun and fast paced, and the minigames to get the emeralds were awesome. Also on 2 & 3, you were able to play co-op which was really fun. These Sonic games are classics and deserve a spot on my top 10 list.
#9-
Phantasy Star Online: Ep. 1 & 2
Recently, I came back to this game and found myself playing it non-stop. There are a variety of character classes to choose from and an endless amount of weapons and equips to find and customize. You can take this game online or play offline with 3 other friends.
#8-
Mario RPG
Square Enix killed it with this game. This was the game that introduced me into RPGs. It had all the elements of an RPG inside of a Mario type game. This game had a great storyline, action, good graphics, and a good soundtrack that I'd catch myself humming every once in a while.
#7-
Mortal Kombat 3
Of all the Mortal Kombat games out there, MK 3 was the best. Theres nothing better than a gory 2D fighter. This game literally had over 100 different fatalities. Me and my bro still play this here and there. This game is a classic and a must have in any game collection.
#6-
Mario Party Series
Mario Party was the ultimate party game of its day. This game broke gender roles in videogames. Its fun, It's got room for 3 other friends, an It's got hundreds of minigames that you'll keep coming back to.
#5-
Mario Kart Series
Mario Kart brought the fun in racing games. With crazy items and fun designed tracks who could pass this game up on any list. The N64 version introduced a battlemode, which I think we can all agree it was fun as hell especially with 3 friends. The DS version introduced online play that took the game to a new level. And hopefully the wii version will blow us away.
#4-
Halo 1
I don`t know about you guys, but when Halo first came out for the Xbox, it was the shit. The single player was phenomenal, the graphics were beautiful, the soundtrack was sick, multiplayer was kick ass, and Co-op was orgasmic. Man I wish I had a good copy of it right now.
#3-
Legend of Zelda series
Now what's a top gaming list If it doesn't Zelda on it? The LoZ games are like no other. They have action, swordplay, dungeon crawling, great boss fights, and puzzles. A Link to the Past was the first game I played of the series. It was fun and exciting and enough to make me come back to the series. Ocarina of Time was LoZ's first step into 3-D graphics. Most will still argue to this day that this is the best game ever created. Twilight Princess was my favorite of the series. It had serious action, beautiful graphics, a great story, and amazing controls. I can't leave the Windwaker series out. Windwaker for the GameCube brought a ne design to LoZ. It also introduced sea traveling. Phantom Hourglass brought new controls to LoZ, stylus touch! This game was truly amazing and fun to play, and plus, it was portable! The LoZ series deserve the #3 spot on my top games list.
#2-
GTA series
The GTA series brought something new to gaming, free roam. This was one of the reasons why I liked these games so much. You could literally do anything, get into fights, kill people, drive around the city, buy different outfits, go to strip clubs, play arcade games, etc. The list goes on. On top of that there was a story to be played and you had countless missions to do. Listening to the radio was one of favorite things to do. The commercials are fuckin hilarious. I can't wait until GTA IV comes out, Im already knowing its gonna be the shit.
And finally the top game on my list goes to:
#1-
Super Smasbros. Series
To me Smasbros. was a childhood favorite growing up. Being able to duke it out with all of your favorite gaming characters in one game was the best thing you could do in a fighting game. Smasbros. for the N64 was incredibly fun. The multiplayer was awesome and always competitive. When melee came out, Hudson had made a hit game. They added more characters, more stages and more content so that people would be coming back for years to come. Now Brawl is out and I can`t think of any other game that deserves to be in the #1 spot. This game outdid the other two by so much its not even funny. You have the traditional fight that you've had in the other two games with improvements. You've got the amazing soundtrack boasting over 300 tracks. You've got a story mode thats unique and co-op enabled. You've got online play and 35 characters to choose from. Theres so much that I can go on for hours. The smasbros series will continue to dominate sales on each console and thats why it deserves the #1 spot on my top games list.
Whoo! Finally done. What do you think about my first blog? Was it too long? Hope you enjoyed it.
Also if anyone could help me get a good looking banner on my blog, I'd really appreciate it.
